Declining Friend Requests

Could the decline friend request feature be updated to permanently stop receiving friend requests from a user?
From what I can tell, if you decline a friend request, that same user can continue to spam you with requests no matter how many times you decline.

I also wonder what is the difference between "Decline" and "Remove" when someone sends you a request? Both seem to do the same thing.

I do know I can just ignore requests, but then there is a permanent notification badge on the friends tab 🙁

I also keep wondering about the difference between "Decline" and "Remove"...
I gotta admit that I kind of like that declined friend requests can be sent again, if I'm honest. I usually decline all requests that come from people that I've never even spoken to, but that doesn't mean that I don't wanna accept a second request from them, after we've run into each other on the forum or something like that.
I wonder if that was the idea behind having both "remove" and "decline"? Maybe "remove" was meant to remove the request, but you can get another one (like it is now), and decline was meant to block them from sending you any further friend requests. Or maybe "decline" was meant to give the sender a notification - but that's just something I kind of assumed from how some other sites work.

@IndyHaine the remove is for when you are already friends but you don’t want to be anymore. Both ends have the remove option, once removed you still have the ability to be friends. Declining is just saying, “no thanks.” You can’t remove a friend request but you can remove already friends. Hope that makes sense!

@fishyknots Really? I have both "Remove" and "Decline" friend requests in the past.

@Moogle interesting, I've only had "decline" or "accept" for requests and "remove" once you accept

@fishyknots Wow that's really interesting. When I get a friend request I have "Accept" "Decline" AND "Remove". I didn't know it was different for different users. Btw I'm on the browser site, do you use the app?

Yeah I second this suggestion. I've had some kid in my friend requests daily after he ran through rating all my patterns 1-star after I rated one of his 3-stars for being an objectively low quality pattern (i.e. the intended usage of the rating feature). Like, I learned my lesson. That feature is broken. No more rating anything it's only used for bullying and isn't a real feature. But please let us permanently deny people who spam friend requests as a form of harassment.

@Genki I'm sorry to hear that happened! I tagged you in another thread that might be helpful with users rating low out of hate. Out of curiosity, is the person spamming you with friend requests Johnc5j? Because they did that to me over and over too until I sent a message asking them to stop. Since they are using friend requests as a means to harrass you, I think that would definitely be reportable. Maybe they might stop if a mod steps in.

@KrazyKnotz Please see @Genki 's comment above as well

yeah I kept getting spammed friend requests by the same user, no matter how many times I declined the requests, the user would just send them back again. I hope we can make it so that if you decline the request, that the user can't send the request back again. As you said, @Moogle.
