I think that since there are so many people that would be very hard for moderators to control, but yeah, that might be interesting.

This means that you could basically earn rewards for any photo you post because there likely always is a challenge you could post it for. I think the rewards would loose their meaning, if you got them for participating in any challenge. In official challenges the moderators pick patterns that they think deserve more attention, that maybe nobody has ever knotted before, in user generated challenges this is not always the point.
