I've noticed a lot of very large alpha patterns recently that are based on photos of celebrities, content creators, etc and I'm wondering how much value they actually bring to the site when very few people actually create them in real life. They are 120-140 strings and probably take up a good amount of storage on the site too... just curious if mods have considered capping these

I have noticed them to! Some of them look absolutely amazing! Unfortunately they personally turn me away because of the size! They are lovely patterns though! I have also noticed a few that looked "Blurry", kind of like they were fresh out of the draw alpha for a photo and put on the site. They are wonderful patterns, but in my opinion, trying not to upset anyone, they are not that valuable to the community because of their size and sometimes blurriness. I feel like the problem would be resolved if it could be made a little smaller, and the patterns themselves tweaked a little bit more. The patterns look amazing nonetheless!

When someone tries to submit a pattern that large, there is always the automated warning asking them, if they really want to submit a pattern this large.

If we moderators believe that the pattern would work well on a smaller scale too and that it's unnecessary that it's so big, we will decline it.

I don't think that one of these portraits has been knotted so far, but there are other large alpha patterns of similar sizes that have been knotted, so there's always the chance that someone would knot those - especially because these large portraits often get requested in the comment sections of other portrait patterns.

If a pattern seems unfinished, we moderators will decline it, but that's very subjective. We usually try our best to only accept patterns that are sufficiently tweaked.

We might need to be a little stricter with these patterns, but I don't think we would eliminate them completely.
