on each alpha i have made so far except for one, there seems to be one less number of strings than stated in the dimensions before I start. I don't notice until after I start and it seems like I messed up because once the row is complete, i still have an extra string. Then i recount my knots and colors to make sure it matches and then I count the strings on the pattern and it is one less string while at the top of it, it does say a different number. Am I missing something here?

The number of strings in an alpha is always the amount of base strings plus one string extra for the leading string. It might not be intuitive in the beginning, but once you know there shouldn't be any more confusion about how many strings you need 😄 You can also always check out the dimensions. They give you the amount knots in a row times how many rows there are. |
