Can't change colours

Hi, I am designing an alpha pattern from a photo and I have some very similar colours, so similar in fact that I can hardly tell the difference. I have tried to get rid of some of the colours on the alpha section of the create alpha, but I don't know how, please can you help me? Thanks!

You can get rid of colours by going to "alpha". There you change the colours you want to merge to the exact same colour code, click "safe", go to "draw alpha", click "safe" and go back to "alpha"
