Beginners Can’t Use DM’s

So there was a really rude user who wrote from nasty to sickening stuff to at least 5 people. They are a beginner and this raises the question why are beginners allowed to dm? I understand letting them on forums because real knotters need help figuring stuff out, but if they aren’t allowed on the chat they shouldn’t be allowed to dm |

i’ve seen something else like this before and i agree. i’ve never gotten pmed by anyone, but i agree that this is an issue. i’ve seen it also as the pm ability is given if a picture is posted or a pattern is created. i agree whole heartedly

They now dmed enough people they leveled up to advanced. So now they are on the chat. How is this allowed to happen?!?!

We mods have to discuss this 🙂 with the chat we had several issues with beginners trolling and their ability to write in it was taken away from them for that reason. If we had similar repeated incidents with several beginners, we definitely would need to consider changing something.Personally I think the ability to dm should not be taken away because it is necessary for all users to be able to reach the mods and users just might want to talk with other users in private. Maybe something like on ig where you have to accept messages would be useful or an ability to block certain people from messaging you. I'm sure we'll find a solution but it might not be the one you have in mind now 👍 |

@halokiwi Yeah, maybe they could message mods still but not others. Because even a block still gives them the ability to do damage

maybe there’s a way to turn on a setting where only “friends” can dm. then there’s a reason to be friends w someone because from what i’ve noticed, there’s not rly anything that the friends feature does.

We'll find a solution for this issue 🙂 I'm sure the solution won't be taking away dms from beginners, but there will be a solution eventually 👍

beginners are allowed to dm other users but only a certain amount. eventually (i'm not sure when) but the more the user is messages people then the ability to dm users will stop until the next day.
