I’m kinda confused. For like what counts as similar.
Would something like my pride gingerbread series not be allowed according to this rule?
Like how similar counts as similar?
Like are @SummerBird fruit patterns different enough they could make 20+? Btw love your patterns, I just need someone to use as a example

Yes, @SummerBird's fruit patterns are different enough and I'd love to see more of them 😍

The new addition to the guidelines is more about normal patterns, but I think your gingerbread patterns are good examples. For example #79298 and #79123 would now not both be accepted because they have the same amount of stripes and can almost be added too each other as variations, the only differences would be decorations/buttons which you can easily adapt while knotting without needing an extra pattern 👍

Your normal patterns seem all fine and I think mine are also fine, so let's take a fictional example. Let's imagine I had made a third pattern to go along with #98234 and #98235. Maybe it would look like the first pattern with the dots from the second pattern or like the second one with the dots from the first. I think this would be where it gets too repetitive.

I think it also has a lot to do with the amount of patterns you submit that are a part of a series of almost identical patterns with only a few knots changed. Three patterns might be alright because then most likely the patterns are still unique to a certain degree and they might also be valuable for inspiration but ten or even more might be too much.

Since it is a new rule, we mods first have to get used to it and find our balance. If there is anything new, I'll update you 👍

@halokiwi Okay, thanks for clearing it up. I think I understand now.
I just wanted to figure out what you meant by series, because their fruit ones looked different enough. But I’ll admit, I was surprised I was able to do so many variations of basically 2 patterns for the gingerbread

@halokiwi I assumed it was the normal patterns causing the issue, but wanted to make sure I could do another pride series with at least the very common lgbtqia+ flags
