Does adding a border to a pattern cause photos to be declined?

I submitted a photo of a basic chevron bracelet I did with an added single knot border on the edge, just a simple complementary border and it was declined. Do I need to make make or find a pattern of a chevron + border to submit the photo under? Also for future reference if I take a pattern and slightly modify it (i.e. add a couple more strings to make it wider) would that no longer qualify as the original pattern? I want to make sure I'm doing my photos right 😊

Thanks!

It would make more sense to post your photo to #410 as that is the bordered chevron pattern.

Also yes if you can modify a patterns size and still get your photos accepted, for example on #2 there is lots of different sizes of chevrons

@2006_Mandy thank you! That makes sense.

If someone modifies a pattern and there’s no existing pattern with that modification, then we’ll usually accept the photo. But if a pattern with that modification exists, we’ll usually decline the photo because it would be better under the pattern that has the modification. Hopefully that made sense 😅

That totally makes sense! Thanks for the answer and I've resubmitted under the correct pattern. 🙈

i've seen people "incorrectly" make patterns. for example: extra strings, boarders, and even just making the pattern the way it isn't supposed to be made, and those photos still get accepted. i have a few patterns that are made to where the bracelets will be color shift, and they're based off of other patterns. but basically, people somehow making them not colorshift, and end up turning the bracelet into a different pattern. those photos still get accepted

@dojac I love how creative people are with patterns 😍 I'm always surprised when I intend a pattern a certain way and someone makes in in a different way.

I would not say that these people are doing it incorrectly or are making a mistake. Adding a border, adding straight edges, making slight changes to the pattern, using less or more colours than in the original pattern, turning a shaped pattern into a not shaped pattern and the other way around are all things users can do and the photo will still be accepted.
