I have a suggestion for the site...

Would it be possible to have somewhere on the site a **detailed** post listing the standards for acceptable patterns (especially alpha patterns) and photos? It would also be more helpful for admin to be more detailed in their comments on declined patterns. Such as which colors need to be changed or are too similar (a, b, c, etc.) rather than just saying "Use different colors if possible to make the pattern clearly visible, please". It is confusing because the generator may not notify when colors are too similar, but admin still makes this comment.

Just a couple suggestions for admin. 🙂

I agree with this idea! 😊

It is really discouraging to have patterns declined and not really know how to fix them. I know admin gives a general response, but it is still confusing when it keeps getting rejected even when you think you fix the problem. It makes me feel like completely giving up, which I don't think is the site's intention.

Maybe admin could even make a separate forum thread where admin can post guidelines, standards, announcements and site/app updates? Then it could be easy to find and be referenced to.

This is 95% of the reason I don’t make patterns. They get rejected for seemingly no reason and then when you go ‘well it must be this’ and fix it you see another pattern with a similar feature. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t want to harass the admins every time it tells me my pattern is declined so I stopped.

Though I must say at least on alphas the last pattern I tried it did tell me what colours were similar by saying a=d or e=c etc.

@KrazyKnotz @Knot-Ninja @Margaron Firstly, I would like to thank you all for your inputs. It's really valuable for us to know what problems our users face to think about how to resolve them.

Photos and Videos:
We will be adding guidelines to the 'Add a Photo' and 'Add a Video' sections of the website listing all the issues your photos and videos may be declined for. I think that the decline messages here are not such a big problem, and that they're descriptive most of the time. But correct me if I'm wrong.

Patterns:
I had a discussion with @Johny regarding the review process. From now on, we will do our best to make the decline messages as informative as possible. We tried to make the generator so that it will inform you about most pitfalls during the creation of your patterns, but not all issues can be found by it, and we understand that. The general rule of thumb here is that the pattern has to have a value for the community in order to be approved. So if we think more people may want to use the pattern for their bracelets, and it isn't distorted, there's a high chance we approve it. The problem for patterns is that we try to curate the content so that only really valuable creations get to the site, and that sometimes means declining a pattern multiple times before it looks good enough to meet our standards. I'm not sure if the standards aren't too high, but the thing is that we already have almost 25k patterns on the site, which isn't a problem, but time to only approve high quality content. I would be happy to hear your opinions on this, it would really help us adjust the reviewal criteria to what our users really want. If it's quantity, or quality at this moment. We will also think about a good place to add the pattern review process guidelines to the site, so that everyone can read it before submitting a pattern. I think that's a good idea.

Btw, just so that you know, we made a small update to our admin section yesterday, which should help us a lot with the messages. You can read our latest blog post if you want to know the details 🙂.

We will do our best to fix all the issues you've all mentioned here. It's really important for us that you feel comfortable posting content to the site. And again, I will be happy to hear your comments on what I wrote 🙂.
