There really should be a report feature

If there isn't one already and I just can't find it. This site isn't supposed to allow political messages, and yet I've seen many patterns recently billboarding the Israeli-Palestine conflict, antivax messages, the abortion argument, etc. I come to this site, and I do this hobby to get away from real world problems and conflicts. |

hey! there is currently not a report feature or button, but if you would like to report a user, pattern, or comment, you may do so by private messaging a moderator (such as myself), who will then send your report over to the admin. 🙂

Moderators, please filter the political patterns that are sub, ited to the site. Some of them are just flags or something neutral but others clearly hold a political message or are harmful (antivaccine/antimask or military conflict)

Like @arf820 said, you can message a mod to report anything that you think shouldn’t be on the site. However, the types of patterns that you listed are allowed to be on the site. We don’t allow patterns supporting or depicting political parties or candidates, but we still allow patterns like the ones you listed. |

@madeleine_If I may quote directly from the review guidelines: We are doing our best to listen to our community and know what our users are looking for when using our services. Having a positive and welcoming vibe on BraceletBook is very important to all of us. As made clear in a previous blog post, we do not believe in censorship. However, we do believe that there are a few topics a discussion of which, whatever side of the argument an individual is on, should not take place in our community. One of them being politics, which always is a hot topic, and one that causes a lot of arguing as we have already seen in the past. And because of that, no content supporting/representing a political candidate/party is allowed to be posted to BraceletBook. Whether this is a pattern, forum post or comment. So on the surface, fair enough, You want to have a positive and welcoming atmosphere on your platform for the most users possible. You try not to censor topics as a result. However, we both agree that there are definitely topics that disrupt this atmosphere and lead to contension, hence why you ban political affiliated designs in the first place. But why politics? Because it's " always is a hot topic, and one that causes a lot of arguing as we have already seen in the past." But is it not the platforms those political parties stand on that is the source of contention in the first place? We are literally diving into the politics of Israel and Palistine by allowing people to designs pertaining to the conflict. A conflict that has resulted in a lot of death, destruction, and violence, and one that is by its nature going to attract contention, and create a lot of uneasy tension between the supporters of either side of the conflict. There are users who live both within Israel, and the Gaza/West Bank boundaries who use this site, and I don't think either group appreciates seeing their struggles turned into colorful accessories, and having people argue in the comment sections with little nuance and understanding for the conflict. It certainly runs counter to the kind of environment you are trying to create here. Given the pandemic and the climate we are living in right now, The vaccination issue, as well as masks, mitigation measures and have all been politicized topics throughout this event. Though not overtly a liberal or conservative issue, it is one that causes quite a bit of contentious argument among users due to the nature of health and safety involved. There are many who would argue allowing antivax designs would be more or less condoning a dangerous behavior, regardless of whether the site actually condones the message or not. On the flipside, people who are concerned with the vaccine may not appreciate being accosted and shamed by users who think they should get vaccinated. Finally there is the Pro-life/pro-choice debate that is not only a much more politicized issue, in where political parties have shaped their policies based on them, and current day politics in the US heavily revolve around them, but its a highly contentious religious issue as well. This is always a hard issue to debate with civility given the nature of the topic and the beliefs of people on either side of the issue. At the end of the day, this is supposed to be a relaxing and supportive site that serves as an escape from real world issues. That's certainly what has drawn me to the site. And yet especially these day, many people have been using the pattern feed as a way to billboard political messages, even though the posts themselves don't have any direct party affiliation (which is a little harder to argue with the Israeli/Palistinian Conflict, since they involve the parties and divisions of those nations). Of course we don't allow "Vote Biden" or "Trump 2024" on the site, but it's not just a party or candidate name that people have contention over. By allowing the policies that cause the contention to be allowed, we are more or less defeating the purpose of disallowing politically associated designs in the first place. Now I know modding is a lot of work, and I know anything can be seen as political or contentious, hence that's why I'm suggesting a report button. That way the community itself would get to decide whether a certain pattern belongs on the site or not. It would still be up for mod review like it is now, but there would be an easy way to gauge how many users take issue with a certain pattern or design. Right now many users are abusing the rating feature as a glorified upvote downvote feature when that shouldn't be the intended feature. The current system is clearly being abused. Anyway, sorry for the long post. I tried to be fair as possible. I know it's impossible to please everyone, but I want this place to be as welcoming to as many people as possible. |

i agree fully with the long message, political patterns of any kind shouldn't be allowed on this website. there's a difference between human rights (lgbt) and abortion patterns. no one of any age should be making inappropriate patterns such as that. for those of us who are triggered by such topics it can be hard to handle those because of what is being shown. people have PTSD, this is a real thing, and others can be triggered by the patterns. people come on here to make bracelets for their friends or try to advance their skills for gifts. I want to come on this website and not feel my blood pump because of these patterns, i want a safe place like admin said to create cool stuff! This is no place for politics, if you want your patterns up THAT BADLY then make them yourself and post the pattern on a different website, not this. I'm tired of seeing 8 year olds fight about something they have no say or part of. and as for the Israeli/Palestinian Conflict that shouldn't be a debate. especially on here. this website was not made so that other people can fight and try to force their opinion onto others, this is a website to make friends and have a safe place. away from the drama of other websites and apps like twitter and instagram. I just want to be able to have a get away! my friend recommended me because he thought it would be nice for me to keep my hands busy and I've barely been able to be on now that there's so many fights. I can't go in the forums or in the public chat anymore because people are constantly fighting on this website and it could be easily avoided by removing those topics. I understand wanting to be inclusive of all people and opinions, but youre not. you do block certain designs for being too "messy" because it causes so many fights, but you don't do it for the others? this website shouldn't be how children in elementary school learn about politics. that should be their personal opinion, not affected by others. there are 8 year olds who say "i'll get an abortion at 5 months" or "i'll never abort because its terrible" when they're too young to even have that opinion. right now, if i were to have a child, i would block this site. not allow them on here because of the fights you allow to happen. I do not want my child to be influenced by 13 year olds who think they know what they're talking about. i want my child to form their own opinion when they're ready. not when they're still learning multiplication. you're talking about adult topics on a site for little kids to find because they thought the bracelets they made at camp were so cool. Masha in her videos use to recommend this site because of how great it was, but now? it's terrible. no offense to anyone or anything, i know people work hard, but you have to understand that there is no midground for this. I don't want my mom to come on here and see those patterns because i told her to pick a pattern for me to do for her. i don't want to see her cry for at minimum 2 hours because of her past because i told her to pick something cute. i don't want to see any politics on here whatsoever! safe space my butt, unless these things change we wont get anywhere. |

@Toofers @roundcat I agree! I come on here sometimes when I am upset or want someone to talk to, or just to look at bracelet patterns but sometimes it gets a little stressful when people are being rude to others about their opinions and arguing. And there were a few things I learned about that I wasn’t ever told about until I saw those patterns on here. it’s not really the site that little kids should learn about topics that no one has ever told them about before (idk what you guys say is a little kid, but my point is that on a bracelet site, people just shouldn’t learn about topics like that when they were never taught about them by parents or anyone). I think that people should just post them on pinterest or Instagram or other social medias or state in their bio that they can make a pattern specifically for that person and get it to them in a different way. But blm and lgbtq+ and other human rights patterns should still be accepted.

The moderators review everything on the site. So if it’s accepted then I think it’s okay. If you don’t like a pattern just scroll by. Like the moderators have already said, patterns, comments, and the like, supporting or depicting political candidates or parties. I would like it if we had a couple of police patterns though. I know someone whose father was a police officer and I would like to make something in his memory for her. But I can’t find anything 🤷♀️

Perhaps a better idea would be a kind of pattern filtering feature for each user’s profile, kind of like what they have on twitter, where content (in this case, patterns) that include a specific keyword are automatically excluded from a specific user’s feed. 🤔

Because what may trigger Person A may mean nothing to Person B, but make Person C really happy/excited.
