Why no # on photo?

Flipping through photos in someone's profile and see patterns I'd like to make, but they aren't clickable to pattern page and have no other identifiers.Thought an easy solution would be to add pattern number to the photo I took of a completed project. At the very least then I can revisit patterns I've made. The photo was declined: "please remove pattern number". Why? |

both on the app and website you can see the pattern number after your photo is accepted.

Its not allowed because if you upload a photo of a pattern with the pattern number and then the pattern itself gets deleted for whatever reason (for example being a duplicate) your photo will always have the pattern number even if the pattern doesn't exist anymore and it might confuse people if they search for the number they see in the photo but can't find it. I hope that makes sense

@onarts wait I thought if a pattern gets deleted, all photos and variation etc... will get deleted as well

@lucass_ what I've understood is that if a pattern gets deleted the photo is still in your profile but I am not sure i might be wrong

@onarts_ That is a good observation. But I think it would make site nav easier to have #s on all photos with a small amount that can't be followed through rather than banning #s on ALL photos just for the off chance a pattern has been deleted. I'm new on here though... Do patterns get deleted regularly?? Then it would make more sense. |

@lucass_ Sometimes people post photos with multiple patterns. So that photo could be up under another pattern, but one of the other things in it could have had the pattern deleted.

hey! what @onarts_ said is true for the most part. we do not allow pattern numbers to be written on photos because if the pattern you posted the photo to happens to be a duplicate and is reported and deleted, then the pattern number written in the photo will not correspond with the pattern it is transferred to. if there are photos under a duplicate pattern that gets deleted, admin manually transfers the photos and loves to the original pattern. on the website, once a photo is accepted, there is a clickable link to the pattern the photo was posted to. this feature is not on the app, though i agree with you that a feature like this should be added on the app. i am pretty sure this is on the admin's todo list, but i don't know when he is planning on adding this feature. i hope that helps! 🙂 |

@arf820 Thanks! I should have been more clear in that I was looking at photos not in the photo "section" (where there are clickable links to the patterns) but by clicking the profile photo on a members page and scrolling through what they've uploaded. The reasoning behind the decision makes no sense to me, but I appreciate your reply. 👍 |

@Clrowi If you’re on the website, there will still be clickable links when you’re looking at a user’s photos on their profile page. If you’re on the app, there won’t be clickable links, but if you tap on a photo (no matter whether you’re viewing it from the photos page or from a user’s profile page) then the pattern number will appear above the photo.

@madeleine_ Thank you for taking the time to reply. It's helped a great deal. If understand now that if I click the circle at the top of a profile, and scroll through, there are no patterns #s... But if I scroll down the page it's set up like the other photo sections and I can find the patterns that way. This 🦕 is learning, if very slowly! 🙉 Thank you everyone for helping a 👵🏻 out! |
