Review Guidelines Too Strict

Does anyone else think the review guidelines are way too strict? Like, why don't they accept spotify codes anymore? What's the point? Also find the similar colours rule (if it still applies) unnecessary too, if you can see the difference, which you normally can, it should still be accepted.

I personally don’t think the review guidelines are too strict. They don’t accept Spotify code patterns anymore because they are extremely easy to create and hypothetically someone could make one for every song and it is unlikely anyone would make them. I do agree with the similar colours, if you can see a distinguishable difference and the generator still gives a warning and it is declined because of that I think that’s a bit annoying.

I understand what you mean about the spotify codes, but i dont think its enough for them to get declined, just on the chance there are 'too' many.

We no longer accept spotify code patterns because they have indeed gotten too many. They have been very trendy for a while and a big part of patterns that got submitted was just spotify code patterns.

For similar reasons simple word patterns and other code patterns like qr code or morse code patterns don't get accepted anymore. They are super easy to generate and flood the database and make it hard to find valuable patterns.

We only decline patterns for colors being too similar if we find it difficult to tell the colors apart, so many patterns with the green similar color warning will still be accepted. It’s also important to keep in mind that all screens display colors differently, so even if two colors don’t look too similar on your screen, they may look too similar on the moderator’s screen.

I'm glad to hear that about the similar colours 😊. I hope I can get one of my patterns accepted eventually!

I don't think they are! Every guideline that's put into place it to help make this site better. The spotify odes thing would get really out of hand really fast, same with QR codes. on one of my spotify playlists i have 1000+ songs on it (my master list) and that's just my personal favorites, let alone what other people like. There would be too many patterns like that and it would take up the entire data base. you can always keep them in your inventory and easily share them with other by copying the code into chat. The point is to make sure that other patterns get seen, if everyone was posting spotify patterns that would take up over 75% of the patterns on here if 1 account each posted one. its also really hard to keep track if the song was already done!!! it would be impossible for the moderators to make sure there werent any duplicates
what you think is't similar, doesn't mean that to others it is. its sometimes really hard to get such similar colors unless you go to a craft store yourself, and even then the string colors are almost so similar you cant tell the difference in person when its applied to the bracelet. this happened with the frog bracelet i did!! i thought i had very different green colors when putting everything together, and if i had them in the data base it would have registered as fine, but they were so similar that it didn't show very well so i just kept them solid bodies which i was really sad about.

Overall, I think the idea of a 'valuable pattern' is too strict and and closely controlled. It is in someway subjective, which could be a problem, as a pattern that might not seem valuable to a moderator could be valuable to another bracelet maker. If a pattern looks good, it should be accepted, regardless of the warnings. About certain types of patterns being declined (e.g QR codes, simple words, spotify codes), ultimately, if it's popular, it means people like them! I hope I don't sound too overbearing, it's just how I feel. But it's great that patterns are moderated, and respect all the work moderators do! ❤️

I think a lot of people share the same thoughts as you. yes, all patterns such as that should be available. but its so easy to make one?? any of those are super duper easy and take very little time, so its not like its something that's impossible. People on here are willing to make patterns for others all the time, so if it's a pattern like that is made but can't be posted, you can copy and paste the code to your chat with the person and they can make it from there because it gives you the same map as the posted ones.
it's not that you can't make them or post them, it's literally just a matter of everything else would be buried and no one else's patterns would be shown. the popular page would be filled with spotify codes, the recent would be filled, even the variations would be filled!!! it would completely wreck the site which isn't fair for anyone considering there is a perfectly available option.

the moderators do what they can to make sure all patterns get accepted. there are very few patterns that get declined for being to basic or being too repetitive. there's a mug design on here with 3 colors and like 10x10 pixels. its still valuable, so they accepted it. it says in the guidelines that the moderators WANT you to post your design and help make sure its at its fullest potential for everyone to enjoy.
My cat designs that recently got accepted had a wrong # of rows on a side. does that mean that it was a bad pattern? no. it just means that the sides aren't symmetrical and it was a simple fix i needed to make before it got posted. the moderators work with you as est as they can because they want your stuff to get posted for others to enjoy.

Also, please @ people. they wont get the notification since it isnt their forum. the only reason i responded was because i keep refreshing the page. if you're responding to someone, copy/paste their name and @ them so they get notified that you answered 🙂

Thank You very much @Deer-Teeth for your contribution. I understand what you mean about the spotify codes, because they are easy to regenerate, that makes sense. However I feel like most patterns get declined rather than accepted, instead of the other way round. The first pattern I made got declined because of it having too similar colours, even though they were really easy to differentiate. The other pattern I made got declined because it was a 'simple word' pattern, but I don't think it was that simple or easy to recreate, it had a number of colours that matched with the theme and had a shadow and was in the font of a logo etc.

Thank you for being very respectful and for voicing your dissatisfaction. 😊 I just want to address a few things:

With Spotify code patterns, the issue isn’t just that there would be a lot of them. If many users are making a certain type of pattern, we have no problem accepting them. For example, when Among Us patterns were extremely popular and lots of Among Us patterns were being submitted, we were happy to accept them! But just like how an infinite number of words and phrases can be made into simple text patterns, an infinite number of songs can be made into Spotify code patterns, which is why we no longer accept them.

Green warnings don’t affect whether or not a pattern is accepted; their purpose is to let users and moderators know that there may be some colors that are too similar, too dark, etc. If, for example, a pattern with a similar color warning is submitted but the moderator can tell the colors apart, the pattern will be accepted! It may seem like the warnings cause patterns to be declined, but that’s only because the warnings draw attention to the possible reason(s) why the pattern was declined.

Like I said before, even if the colors are easy to tell apart on your screen, it’s very possible that they’re difficult to tell apart on the moderator’s screen. That’s not to say that you should always make your colors as different as possible, but just please keep in mind that if your pattern gets declined for the colors being too similar, it’s because the moderator legitimately struggled to differentiate the colors.

I know it might feel like the majority of patterns get declined, but the acceptance rate is far, far above 50%. Try not to get discouraged, just keep resubmitting your patterns after making the requested changes, and they’ll get accepted!

i completely agree. they declined my pattern several times because my background is white like??????? what?????? also the "distinctive colors" thing is just plain stupid. if i want to you use colors i set, why am i not allowed to do so? stupid and rude.

@rrrajli

Your background needs to be a different colour from the colours you used in the design itself so people are able to add variations with different background colours without making the design look odd. If you have a white background and something in your design is white as well for example the eyes of a character, that part would change colours as well when adding a variation. 🙂

The colours need to be easy to tell apart especially in alphas because otherwise it can be really difficult to knot a pattern if you can barely tell the colours apart 🙂
