Add a setting to turn off private messages from people who aren't friends?

I made the mistake of arguing with someone on a political post and they didn't want their comments in public so they decided to take the argument in the private messaging system. I don't want people to be able to send messages like that to me without permission or without me knowing them. Please add this as an option in the settings to where only friends can message people. This is especially important for minors on this site that don't want adults sending them PMs or vice versa. |

*pattern, it was a political pattern not a post. Typing too fast. 🙈

Here are some idea:-you could have the option to turn off receiving dm's anyone except for the moderators and admin (I say mods and admin since sometimes the mods need to message you about things) -you could also make it so someone has to request to dm you privately -there could be an option to make a list of people who could message you such as people on your friends list I'm pretty sure this would be really hard to make happen on the website but it would be a good idea to help keep BB safer especially for minors |

@Ate_Trisha these are some good options! And also an option to delete messages so they aren't hanging around in the inbox forever. Just some better, less invasive ways of improving the private messaging system.

@Admin I'm sure you're very busy, but here is something that I hope you'll consider. Thank you.

Totally agree! I don't enjoy private messages either, they make me feel uncomfortable

I think this would be a great idea to keep this site safe for the younger users.

Ya I agree I said something once on a pattern and I probably shouldn’t have cuz I hardly knew anything about it LOL and it wasn’t a fight I just replied to them and I said “please don’t argue with me” which I really hope didn’t come off as “I’m right, you’re wrong, there’s no doubt about it, don’t reply” 😂 I meant for it to tell them that they can reply but I don’t want to get into a huge argument, and one person replied to me

Private messages are uncomfortable for those who did not allow them. If a person wants their argument private without other users seeing it then it feels kind of shady.

@Esemplastc yeah I agree. I had someone message me with some very inappropriate words for a mostly children’s website and I was not okay with it and I wish I hadn’t seen it. Now, imagine an eight year old or such getting that message! I really wish you could restrict private messages for anyone but admin and mods, or at least delete conversations you don’t want in your history.

Yeah, I used to message people but I realized how I should protect myself, so I tried to politely say in my bio to not message, but that would be a nice idea!

i think it would be a good idea to have a button where you can restrict people who send messages to you down to admins and your friends. this would make it safer and a lot more comfortable for younger users since there is no age requirement to using braceletbook

Oop I don’t think I finished writing what I wrote like a month ago LOL but anyways, someone replied to me through private message explaining it and they weren’t rude at all, I just don’t want anyone looking through my messages and seeing that I said something on a political-ish pattern
