Chrome freezing when loading patterns

So lately, if I click on a larger pattern my chrome freezes up and I have to close out of chrome. As im reloading, i have to get out of the pattern before it fully loads to avoid another freeze. I think I can go far as 50 either dimension before I have to worry about it freezing up. It's so weird as I've never had this problem before but now without fail, chrome will freeze up if I look at a bigger pattern. Anyone else have a problem with that? I have a s10 so I know my phone can handle it but it's so odd that all of a sudden it's such a huge and repeatable problem.
