Hi, I don't know if this description is going to make much sense but lately I've been seeing more and more patterns that use a more macrame type knotting technique that involves segments of "unknotted' string in the middle of the bracelet, or gaps between knots. I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this or if someone has a good tutorial, or a better name for it. Examples of what I'm talking about are
#17945 and #27679

Follow the pattern like usual and leave the spaces as it is. 😊

yep, as the person before me said, you just follow the pattern as it says! for a pattern like #17945, there will be loose string inside the holes. that is completely correct and normal as you can see in the pictures of the pattern. #27679 is the chainlink chevron. again, just follow the pattern as it says and you’ll end up with individual disconnected lines. if you look at the photos, that is completely correct and normal. there is also a chainlink candystripe bracelet which is made the same way except of course in a candystripe. masha knots has a tutorial on the chainlink candystripe, which will help you when making #27679. hope that helps! 🙂

that is completely normal for those patterns to have holes and stuff like that in them

How though I should just not pull so hard? Because when I try them I pull and there's no more hole

That’s what I was wondering haha, I don’t know if there’s a way or a technique to keep the knots from sliding up

@Gitty08 yes have looser knot tension when making these types of patterns. i haven’t made #27679 yet but definitely with #17945 have looser knot tension. that will bring out the waviness of the bracelet because it makes the loose string inside the holes more visible. i’m assuming it’s similar with #27679 because you don’t want the chevron to connect the disconnected lines to be completely pulled up. 🙂
