What to do with threads at the back of alphas?

Hi I’ve looked through some threads & not found an answer but if I’m asking the same old question again I apologise. I saw on a @MashaKnots video that she just cuts the threads at the back of alphas, I’m a bit nervous of doing that in case they come through. The bracelet is for a child so might get some heavy wear. Was just wondering what other people do? Thanks.

@lilackat just use some clear nail polish or glue to seal the threads in

normally those knots wont untangle easily, you gould try to glue them down but if its for a child the glue might feel itchy. perhaps glue or sew a strip of fabric to the back? in the first place it might be reasuring to not cut them too close to the knot, but leave like 3 milimetres or something at the endmmmm maybe cut them, glue the back off the knots you cut the string off, then sew onn som fabric to cover it all up (too much glue will make the bracelet hard, and this way the glued ends wont directly rub onto the skin???????) |

With the loose threads you can tie knots with the other loose threads on the back a couple of times to help it stay a bit better. It’s honestly okay if you just cut them and leave them because it stays pretty well

I can assure you that the threads will not come loose or come through. I've always cut mine off and never have had that problem. For it to all come loose/through the knots would have to be pretty loose, and I don't think anyone knots that loose so you should be fine. For a piece of mind though, as has been said, after cutting you could apply a really small amount of glue just to hold it extra secure, but you really don't have to. |

on the back of my alphas, I like to tie them in a knot and then cut the excess string off

I am comfortable with cutting the long ones and they will be fine except for the one at the very top where you made your first knot and the one at the bottom where you made your last. Also, I don't cut all the string off of the back where it criss crosses.

I just cut them and they don't untie but you can just tie a knot with each string and cut off the extra string...hope this makes since!

I cut my strings about a half a centimeter and then mod podge them to the bracelet. It works really well for kids, as it does not make the string ends sharp. Another option is tying one string to another and then cutting it. That way, if a knot does happen to come undone (It probably won't), the actually knot in the bracelet is fine.

I usually wait until I finish my bracelet to cut the back I have never had a problem with the knots coming undone or anything. If you are afraid of cutting the actual bracelet you don’t have to cut the excess string on the back because no one really looks at it. I hope this helps.

Thanks guys. I think I’ll be brave and cut them as running out of time. Trying to get 2 bracelets finished for when I see two of my grandchildren on Sunday. It’s taking me a long time as never done alphas before.

You could always get some iron on patches to place on the back if you want that extra security. I got some off of amazon to use for keychains and they seem to hold up on there well!

i feel the same way when making alphas! to prevent them from possibly unraveling i knot them really close to the bracelet then cut off the excess. my alphas also go through some heavy wear like washing and just wearing them a lot and i find this works well. i’ll have to try the clear nail polish trick next time too though 🌸✨

I pretty much just cut them off and do nothing. You can also add a piece of fabric at the back of the bracelet so it looks clean but you don’t really have to do anything

I cut them as short as possible and just leave it. You can do glue or clear nail polish on the back to secure the ends but it can be pretty stiff and scratchy so I usually don’t do it

You could cut the strings then put glue over the spot you cut so it stays put, or you could try to weave it into the ties

I've heard of people leaving them there but I feel like they do come undone when I do that. I've also heard of people weaving the ends into the bracelet but I don't really know how to do that lol. So I'll cut them really close to the bracelet then use a little bit of nail polish over to help secure it down! 😊
