You type in the knots in the box. To change the colors you press the color boxes and change them. You can also change the order of the colors at the top

Ive never made a successful normal pattern but here is my knowledge: the first thing you would see when you start to create your normal pattern is the “colors used”. That is where you change your colors or add more. Each color will be represented by a letter. For example the first color will be the letter “A” and the fourth would be “D”. You will use the corresponding letters to order your strings under “colors order” Next is the “knots” area. Imagine the order of yours strings and the knots you must make in a row by row style to get your pattern through. Hope I could help 🙂

to make a normal pattern, first change the colors by clicking on the colored and blank spaces at the top. once you click on the black and red spaces, you can choose your own colors. you can add colors also by clicking on the blank space next to the colored spaces. a new blank should appear after you do that, so you can even choose another color. the max amount of colors is 26. after you choose your colors, you decide your string order. each color is associated with a letter of the alphabet. your first color is A, second color is B and so on. say you have five colors. your string order can be anything but an example of a string order can be abcdeedcba. after you choose your string order, you can now type in the knots of the pattern. if you have an even number of strings, you need half the amount of knots for each odd row; for each even row, you need half the amount of knots minus one for each even row. so for example if you have 10 strings, if you’re making a candystripe, you type f,f,f,f,f for the first row and f,f,f,f for the second row. if you have an odd amount of strings, it’s a little different. so it would be amount of strings minus 1 divided by 2. for example, if you have 9 strings, 9 minus 1=8 and 8/2 is 4. so 4 knots in every row. i would recommend typing two rows at a time and click “save and test” so that you can see the work you’ve done so far and so that you can see if you need to change anything as you are going. once you are finished with your pattern, type in your keywords, and click the checkbox in between the keywords and the “save” and “submit” buttons. if you have no warnings at the top, that means your pattern is ready to be submitted. i know this is a lot of information so feel free to tag me or message me if there is something you don’t understand! i hope that helps! 🙂
