I have only ever made relatively thin alphas, and I usually start them with a triangle start but for a ticker alpha I think that woud be way too big and to much space before the actual pattern starts. How do you start thicker alphas?

I think some people do a loop and two triangle ends

You can do double loops! Kinseyb on YouTube has a tutorial

If you’re planning on making it a bracelet, you can do a loop, several loops, or several triangle ends. When I’m making an alpha that’s not going to be a bracelet, I like to just tape my base strings down and start knotting
