For the straight edges technique used on normal patterns, how long should I do the extra string, like should I do it depending on how long I want the bracelet be or match it with the other strings?

Pattern numbers 1 and 2 are good patterns to use if you are a beginner.

@brace_love Because the extra strings only get knotted onto (kind of like alpha base strings), they should be the length that you want the bracelet itself to be, plus extra for ties
