first cut your base strings and take it row by row knot by knot. don’t worry about messing up on your first one

Lay your base strings out and tape them down, then tape your leading strings down and start knotting it onto your base strings

I’d suggest you use triangle ends to start off the pattern ( Masha Knots has a tutorial ) 😊 Also try using the “flat alpha technique”. If you need any help, feel free to message me!

Cut out your base strings and do the pattern onto that

How long should the base strings be?

Depends on the pattern, but the more knots you have the more string you need. To be safe you might want to cut them longer than you think just so you don’t run out😬 good luck!!

Thank u! 😊 but when you have an alpha the arrows on the pattern will zigzag ... do you have to knot in the other direction?

When the arrows are pointing to the right, it’s a forward know and when they point to the left it’s a backward knot. Hopefully that helps, and as someone mentioned before Masha Knots has a great tutorial for it!

You might already have a pattern picked out, but if not, I suggest a small pattern (maybe 11 strings or less) with only 2-4 colors. 🙂
