If you’re starting it with a single triangle end masha knots has a section in her second alpha triangle end video that explains what to do with an odd number of strings, you can also start with a straight edge!

if you want to start an alpha from a single triangle: you need to separate the 2 string bundles in to 2 equal sections and leave the odd one in the middle. after that you would proceed with the same motion of going back and forth. as with the normal triangle start.if you want to start an alpha from a loop to a single triangle: you start of by cutting the leading string quite long (i'd say at least twice the length of your base strings or even more) and align your string with whichever side you want and basically you would treat it as any other base string. you start by knotting your loop regularly to your desired length and then you proceed as instructed above for the triangle start with the leading string that you knotted the loop with. (don't forget that when you cut your base strings, you need to cut the even amount of strings and then you'll add the other base string with the leading string). if you have more questions about this, feel free to ask 😊 |
