How to Change the Number of Strings in a Normal Pattern

Hi, I'm trying to make a normal pattern, but how do I change the number of strings? It keep adding lots of extra "a" colors. Can anybody help? Thanks.

Maybe that’s the color order? That happened to me as well I’m not exactly sure how to fix it, but I think I know what your taking about maybe try changing The order, or if you don’t want an extra ‘a’ then add a b or c in a place that doesn’t alter the looks of the pattern (where it only gets knotted on so you don’t see the color) sorry if this is wrong, that’s just my experience

@SuzuKnots, the generator adds extra strings when the number of knots you are trying to make is more than the number of strings you have in your pattern. It’s basically adding extra strings so that it can generate the knots you want to make. To fix this, you either have to just swap the extra “a” strings for colors that are already in your pattern or you have to double check and make sure that the number of knots you are trying to make in odd numbered rows are half of the number of strings in your pattern. 🙂
