Be polite and say that it took a long time but you could eventually surprise him with one for his bday , my dad asked me for one and his bday is soon so I’m going to make it for him

maybe instead of making him that one, you could find simpler ones that he might like and don’t take so long to finish ! find ones you think he would want and maybe show him a few you picked out and let him choose from those

Well he is your father and does so much for you. My dad wanted me to make him a bracelet and I am already working on so many others but he is important and I don’t mind making him one. Maybe if you show your dad other patterns he might like a different one. Our parents do everything (almost) that we need and making a bracelet for them would be no problem. If it is a friend, etc I would say that it takes a long time and if they want one they have to pay for it but also must be willing to wait a while that way I do not have or pressure myself into finishing other stuff at the same time.

what i do is that i give my parents bracelets when it is a special day, like their bday or mother’s/father’s day. i have them choose from the patterns i created or from the patterns that are in my todo list so that they choose a pattern that i know that i will enjoy making. i recommend in this situation to just give him the bracelet you are already working on. he is your father, and technically you still own the bracelet that you are working on. it’s not like you sold this bracelet to someone across the country or something. also you can work on other bracelets after you are finished with the one you are working on. so you don’t have to make the same bracelet again. hope that helps! 🙂

I told my dad that he could pick a simpler one and he understood that they took a while. He was super happy with the one I made him, so if you just tell your dad that it would take a long time and that if he could pick another one it would be great.

It’s different when it’s with other people but with your dad it’s nice because you can see it anytime and all. Also you don’t have to do that pattern or if he wants that one you could look for similar ones but smaller so it would take less long. I’m sure he’d be grateful anyway even if it want that pattern!!!

What I do is I make a collection of bracelets that were very easy to make or they were very wonky. Then I give them to people who want a bracelet 😂.

Even though he’s tour father, the bracelet is yours. You’re the one who spent your time and effort on it, so you don’t need to feel obligated to give it to him. I think you should just be completely honest with him and tell him that that particular pattern takes a long time, but that you’d be happy to make him a smaller or simpler pattern. And then you two could look on braceletbook together to find a pattern he’d like

show him some that didn't take so long and see if he likes any of those or it is also nice sometimes to have a bracelet or two in progress that you can just do a few knots whenever

when I was just starting out and only making easier bracelets like chevrons and candy stripes, It as much easier for me to give away bracelets so I understand your struggle, now I just try to be nice and just say something like "this took a long time, but maybe I can make one for you birthday" or something like that. Hope this helps.
