I'm a beginner and for my first bracelet, I chose Pattern #18077. As I was knotting, the I noticed the bracelet wasn't straight-- it looked kind of zig zagged. Can someone tell me how to avoid this? Thanks! ❤️ 🙂

Hello! Perhaps try to tighten your knots more and choose a simpler design as it is your first bracelet 😊 I suggest watching Masha Knots’ “complete beginner guide” video along with the “basic knots” video. Hope this helps!

Using the “straight edges” technique also helps (:

Patterns like that can be pretty hard to keep straight. I actually struggle with that too, so I don’t know how to avoid it. But I really really recommend doing a chevron (#2) for your first bracelet, because it’s much easier. And I also recommend watching the videos that @DaniaAhmed said to watch. Good luck!

because the knot structure of the pattern is based off a candystripe which doesn’t mirror on both sides, the bracelet is naturally going to curve, giving you the zigzag. there isn’t really a way to completely avoid this, but a couple things that can help is tight and consistent knot tension and the straight edges technique. the straight edges technique is kinda advanced so since you are a beginner, i’d recommend you try some other patterns that mirror on both sides (like a chevron for example) before attempting the straight edges technique. that way you can focus on perfecting your knot tension with a pattern that won’t naturally curve to the side. if you want, tag me here or message me and i can recommend some patterns for you. i hope that helps!🙂

My advice is making the knots tighter might help. Also, (I'm sorry if this is offensive) but maybe start with a simpler pattern, like a candy stripe or chevron. You could also look up on YouTube Masha Knots and watch her beginners tutorial. It is a little long, but it helped me a lot when I first started. Hope this helped! 😊 😉

With patterns like those, I try to keep my tension a lot looser while still trying to keep my knots tight. It helps only a little bit; that wonky look is unfortunately unavoidable. :/

This is technically not my first bracelet. I have done the chevron, candy stripe, and spiral bracelets. I meant to say that this is my first bracelet reading patterns! Sorry. I should have clarified. Thanks for the tips! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ |
