You can watch Masha knots flat alpha’s tutorial. I learnt how to make alphas from that video.

When reading alphas remember that you only use forward backward knots, also know that you use base strings, watch masha knots alpha tutorial for more detail. Watch her flat alpha second as it doesn’t go into much deatail as her alpha explanation video

as given by the pattern itself, you have a certain number of base strings and a leading string. base strings are just strings you knot onto, leading strings are the strings you knot with. with the leading string, you just have to do forward knots (on each odd row) and backward knots (on each even row) over all the base strings. you basically go row by row and knot by knot because there is no way to segment knot an alpha. but once you reach a color change, you have two options: regular substitution or flat alpha. i won’t explain either of them here because they are difficult to explain without a visual, so i highly suggest you watch masha knot’s two youtube tutorials on how to make alphas. i hope that helps!🙂

I would also recommend Masha Knots' flat alpha tutorial I found it very helpful as well when I was starting to make alpha's. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YVFAX9sacw

alphas are like weaving so you only use forward knots and backward knots, they also take a lot more time, patience, and string.

It is difficult to explain in a forum post, so I would recommend watching Masha Knots' video on youtube about reading alpha patterns and the flat alpha technique. I used this video to learn about alphas, and it was so helpful! It goes really in depth and is an awesome tutorial. In short, alphas consist of making a bunch of forward and backward knots in a straight row. Arrows facing to the right are forward knots, and arrows pointing to the left are backward knots. When the knot is a different color, that means you switch colors to make the colors different in the bracelet to make the design. Again, this is the most basic of explanations, so I would recommend watching Masha's video on alphas. Good luck and I hope this helped! 🙂
