My doubt is that when there are odd number of columns to make an alpha pattern, how to i go about it? 🙁

Do you mean when the number of base strings are odd? If so, that doesn’t change anything and you can go about the alpha as you normally would make one.

If the base strings are odd or even it doesnt do anything to the pattern

Should I use yarn for my base strings and embroidery floss for the actual bracelet

@Emaleee you can. just make sure that the "leading strings" (the ones that you knot with onto the base strings) are all the same thickness to prevent the bracelet from being uneven and wonky.
the thickness of the base strings doesn't really make a difference and many people like to use 2 types of thread while knotting an alpha: one for the base strings (like crochet thread or yarn) and another for the leading strings (like embroidery floss, embroidery thread etc).

If you particularly need a even amount of base strings for an alpha then you can do this. All you have to do is add an extra base string, which will be knotted with your background colour. This will make sure that your loop is even and not wonky too! Hope this helps.
