both the candystripe (#1) and the chevron (#2) are great beginner patterns to start with! 🙂

if you go to patterns and set the both the difficulty things to 1 all of those should be good if she’s made a chevron or candy stripe

By experience teaching a 9 year old can be hard. My sister is that age and she couldn’t do it right her knots would be loose and all over the place. Start with practicing the knots being Toft before you let her start making bracelets it’s a good trick and it worked for me when I taught another 9 year old. After the knots are good and tight to form bracelets properly start off with a chinese staircase and if that fails then you should know it might not work our teaching your nine your old niece (or whoever they are).

once she's got a handle on the chevron some good patterns would be #30651 and #29348 you might want to teach her fb bf before she attempts the second one though.

She’s working with chevron patterns, she actually loves and got the hang of it very quick. Thank you all for your suggestions 😍😊

I also just introduced my daughter to friendship bracelets. She is 12 (soon 13). I explained the basic 4 knots to her and she understood right away (with some face-making in the process, like "whaaaa?" 😂). I made a simple chevron pattern for her, but with straight edges, so she could practice all 4 knots. Let's see how she likes it 🙂

I started with candy stripe to learn the basic forward knot but she can start with a chevron or a candy stripe!
