How do I know how much base string I will need for an alpha pattern? My pattern is 20x59 and im pretty new to making alpha patterns so I haven't gotten used to different measurements yet.

If you’re planning on making it a bracelet, you should make the base strings the length that you want the bracelet itself to be, plus extra for the ties (I usually do around 25-30cm extra). If it’s going to be exactly 59 rows, I recommend making the strings 9cm (~1.5mm per row), plus extra for the ties (the exact amount depends on the type of ties you’re doing)

@evahiller. Hey!!! So you will need 20 base strings (the strings you are tying your leading onto). I always wrap a string around my wrist 3 times for the perfect length and then cut the rest that same length. Also you will want to make sure you have enough strings for twisted ties on both sides or you can do a loop instead. I hope this helps! If you have any questions just @ my name and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

I think that if you are making it into a bracelet then about the size of your fingertips to your elbow

Just remember that base strings don’t shorten as you knot onto them. So make sure you’re not making your base strings super long like you would for a normal pattern
