Yes you can do that. I have done that and it has worked well for me.

Yes it can! I actually use that technique whenever I need to replace a string on normals. First, put the old string that is short/snapped up and over the bracelet. Then pull in your new string under the bracelet,and make the first half of a knot onto the string that you normally would have knotted onto with the old string. Now take the old string and put it under the new string but over the string you're knotting on to, and pull it to the side. Then finish the second half of the knot and pull the old string behind the bracelet. Also, Alex's Innovation's on YT has a video on replacing strings, and she explains this technique there.
