ways to end an alpha

so i made a couple alpha patterned-keychains but i dont know how to end it. i see a lot of people doing twisted ties but i don't think twisted ties would look good on a keychain plus my strings are too short to make twisted ties. i have also just done regular knots, but my knots always look weird, uneven, and big. what are ways you guys like to end an alpha keychain? any advice helps. thanks 🙂

Twisted do work for keychains. But I like to use knots (just knot the strings in groups then cut them to a desired length

Definitely triangle ends and ties (Masha knots and Alex Innovations) both have tutorials (; or for keychains what I would do is triangle end it and maybe put a button on and cut so you have a fringe(idk) lol

Turn the base strings into knots then cut the excess to your desired length, it makes it look nice and finished

@Clairaland normally, i would do a triangle end but if you see the recent pattern i did #35013 it's kinda a picture frame and i don't really know what ends to do. my strings are wayyyy too short to make twisted ties or even knots! i dont know what to do, im thinking i should just cut them but i dont know :/ sorry for typing a lot

@bellar017 yeah, i also think they're really cute but the only problem is that my strings are wayyyyy too short to do twisted ties 🙁

@amazingme i normally do that but my knots just become really big and thick. maybe im using too much string for each knot? and if you check my picture of pattern #35013 my strings are just way too short to do knots so i dont know what to do with it 🙁

Instead of just splitting the string in half and making knots, make knots based on your amount of thread. Ex. If you have 20 base strings, divide them into four sections and then knot each of those sections.

Well if u are cutting strings to short on alphas do wingspan length plus 1 foot for each string that’s what I do and I can have some leftover

i think if u do triangle ends and then make a little tassel on the end that looks rly nice 🙂
