i don't think there's a way to do it without it looking a bit strange, but depending on the pattern you could just add another base string on the end. what pattern # are you doing?

Thank you so much! I was thinking about adding also another base string but the design would look uneven ☹️ but I think that’s my only option so I’ll try it anyway hehe. It’s a custom patter I made at it has 43 strings unto it. ☺️ thank you again! 😁

Yes! Personally I add 1 extra string! Let's say you have a pattern that calls for 43 base strings, tye 22 strings to a dowel with a larks head knot or whatever you are knotting on and start knotting. Right now, you should have 44 base strings. When you get to the end two base strings, knot both of them at the same time combining the two strands. (You might need a tighter knot at first). The knot structure and tension won't be different, but if you don't want to continue knotting on the two strands, Once you get to row 5 or 6, treat one of those two strands like you would a color change and put it to the back of your piece still you can cut it at the end 🙂. this is by no means a professional explanation 😂 but I found that it works for me!

another option is to tie 21 base strings to the piece making it 42. But then with the same color as your leading string, tie a larks head knot and use one of those strands as a base and then the other as a leading string, making it 43 strings. If you use this method, you should make one side significantly longer because it is the one you are knotting with it being your leading string.... although you can just add more string in so ii guess it doesn't really matter:"D

What i recommend is to tie one singe string to the end in a double knot, and then with the loose end from the knot, just glue it along the back of the work when you’re done.🥰 It will already be messy on the back because it’s an alpha. You could also do this method with a Larks head knot, and glue the extra string to the back when you’re done. I hope this helps!
