Im guessing you meant to say “tangling” and not “untangling”. It’s pretty much unavoidable for your strings to get tangled, so you should just let them be tangled and only pull out a string when you need to make a knot with it

Yes, you only need one string at a time for knots so I suggest you just pull out the string you need. Another hack is that you can put multiple strings in between your finger to make the knots faster with less tangled string.

You can brush your fingers through the strings as you knot that tends to help

I reccomend just using a loom of sorts, either a real thing, or j some cardboard w/ slits to keep strings organized in general

you can maybe keep them on the spool of embroidery floss your using so you dont have that problem and you never use the wrong amount of embroidery floss

I used to use bobbins! But they can be a little iffy to work with, unraveling wise. If you find your strings constantly getting tangled, it can speak to the length of string you are using. For longer string, I suggest working with the string contained with small binder clips.
