hi! do you know abt the straight edge technique for alphas? if so, how do you switch the colors on the sides? i know masha knots made a video on it, but it's very tricky especially when the colors keep switching making the strings in akward positions

@k0ifish to be honest i dont really understand the straight edges technique i do quite tight knots but am quite slow so i dont usually have that many wonky edges but i guess that kind of comes with practice, but for changing colours at the end of a row instead of completing the row fully, on the outer base string i do a backwards forward knot or a forward backward basically making it so the string isnt sticking out on the edges but instead in-between the two outer base string and then introduce the new coloured string. alternatively i will cut the string down and tthen tie the new colour to the end quite tightly so i dont get messy ends
sorry if this is a bit confusing but try just doing a bracelet and practing doing one colour and introducing another before you try a pattern.
ps. when i first was learning some bracelet you-tubers have knotting videos of alphas id try to find one of those and do the same pattern so you can see what there doing
good luck and happy bracelet making

@sunnylemon just start of simple, dont amke to complicated patterns. oh and watch masha knots videos on starts and finsishing bracelets. never cut the string just wind it all on to a bobin and then you wont have to replace slash waste string 😜

@k0ifish the straight edge technique is super easy once you learn it! I totally recommend it. Masha Knots on youtube has a really good flat alpha/straight edge tutorial. If you have any other questions about bracelets, or want more clarification on this, hit me up! ❤️

@vscodonut I think the most fun first alpha is of something you're really interested in. I recommend doing a pattern search on bracelet book of different things you like-- shells, fruit, a character, rainbow, etc. and then order them by "alpha" and "strings" (the lowest strings will show first). I think you'll find something you really love this way! ❤️😊 hit me up if you want more specific recommendations 😉

@k0ifish for the the straight edges just when you get to the edge, do a forward backward knot on the right and a backward forward knot on the left. Make sure you do 2 knots on the edge otherwise their will be on the gag.
