Masha knots on YouTube has a tutorial on basic loops. But you basically take one of your strings, cut it longer than the other strings, and do forward backward knots over the rest of your strings until the loop is your desired length.

Definitely look at the Masha Knots tutorial for teardrop loops. They make the bracelet so much easier to start and keep the beginning looking neat and not as jumbled as if you were using just a knotted loop.

Masha knots, Alex's innovations, and kinsey b all have tutorials on how to do loops, and how to make loops w/ triangle ends for alphas

Marsha knits has great tutorials. But in a nutshell, you do forward backward knots to a desired length and then do a triangle end or if it’s and alpha got into the patter!!
