I've only tried make an alpha bracelet once, but got discouraged because my knots would slant in the direction I was moving the string (forward or backward knots would result in knots facing forward or backward). Because of this, the picture became distorted and I gave up. In all the pictures I see, the knots are perfect little squares that are aligned nicely to form it. How do I stop my knots from slanting?

i’m pretty sure i know what you’re talking about, but i might be wrong. it’s inevitable that your knots are slightly one way or the other, and that’s just what i’ve seen happen to me and many others. i think it just takes lots of practice and figuring out what tension you like your knots, and if they’re all even over time they’ll get better! hope this helps, and if i explained it completely wrong just message me and i’ll help you there (:

I haven’t had a problem with this personally, but I’ve heard that in alphas it’s best to use string of the same thickness, preferably the same brand. I use whatever random stings I have and they seem to work ok but if your strings have a major difference in thickness maybe try using the same thickness. Hope this helps! (:

I think that all the knots slightly slant when it comes to alphas. Sometimes you can clearly see the back and forth motion of the knots. There is a flat alpha technique that hides it a bit more, by removing the wavy edges... and I think that could help solve your problem

I totally understand you. When I started making alphas, I tied all my strings together like I would on a skinny normal bracelet, and my rows ended up very wonky. Then I started taping down all my threads in the beginning, or using a clip and that really helped! Now it's easy to get straight lines.

Also, it's helpful to push up the knots with your fingernails or a straightedge when you feel like you need it.

I hope this helps! ❤️

Also, I do use the flat alpha technique. If you don't already know it, Masha Knots has a great tutorial on YouTube.

It’s kinda luck for me! I started an alpha and at first it looked like a V but then fit strieghter as it went
