Hey guys, I have a problem because my alphas turn out really wobbly and with uneven sides as soon as I incorporate a new color (If I just have the plain background color it comes out pretty striahgt on that part of the bracelet). I have only done alphas with two colors (#1654 and a name bracelet) so far, and always used my base strings to make the different colored knots. Could that be the reason why they come out so wonky? Or could it be how tightly I do my knots? I am using the same thickness string and the straight edges technique.
I need heeelp 😭

No, but I thought you can only do that when you're incorporating new threads for new colored knots.. does it work too if I use my base strings to make the knot? For example on the cloud bracelet I had white base stirings and a blue leading string. When I made the white clouds I used my base strings to knot onto my leading string and didn't use another white string that goes hozizontally like the leading string. (I am so bad at explaining this haha I'm sorry I hope you know what I mean 😂 😢)

You can't do it with the flat alpha technique if you are using the base strings as knots. I think you can use the straight edges technique though!🙂

It could be that you're pulling your knots unevenly. This often results in uneven alphas, so make sure to make every knot the same tight.

Also don't pull to tight in alphas, that can also be a problem

Oh okay, thank you for all the suggestions! I'm very new to bracelet making and started with normal patterns which turned out great from almost the start so maybe I expected that to happen with alphas too 😢 😂 seems like I need more practice and work on tying my knots evenly! Thank you so much! 🙈 ❤️

Okay just as a little update for other newbies confused by this, I started the #28603 Avocado pattern and made sure I keep my knots the same and also did not use the base strings to make any knots! And so far it turned out really straight!! So the tips helped me a lot, thank you ❤️ 😊
