It depends on the bracelet. What pattern are you planning on making?

if you are making a normal patters you should do a wingspan length and fold or cut in half, or straight away just do half a wingspan.

if you’re doing an alpha i like to make the base strings about double the length of the bracelet and the leading strings should be really really long. or it just depends on how much of that leading string color there is

i usually cut my leading strings longer than my wingspan if it’s a va round color or one of the most used. but then i’ll probably need more so if u run out u can easily add more string

I usually cut my strings a meter for normal patterns, and if you don’t know how much that is in inches it’s 36 inches and 28 centimeters. For alphas I leave room for how I think the bracelet will be then I leave room for the ties and some extra just in case.

if ur doubling up on ur colors (like in a chevron or arrowhead) u should do ur wingspan and then fold the strings in half, if ur just doing a candystripe or something u just cut half of ur wingspan/one armslength

It really depends on what bracelet it is but I would go with arms length
