Hi!I've just started to look at alphas, and was wondering what are some easy, small things I could get started with, preferably less than 15 base strings. Thanks! |

#41422 is a great pattern. It is a keychain and it is in the weekly challenge.

My first alpha was #9186 . Basically any pattern from 5-15 strings with few colors are good. You want to practice changing colors, but too many can be very frustrating.

One thing that I found helpful was choosing a pattern of something I really like because it helped keep me motivated. So for my first one I used the search and narrowed down with the following:-Type: Alpha -Strings: 2-16 (a thinner bracelet was easier for me to start with) -Colors: 1-3 (less colors to have to switch in and out of the bracelet. 1 to 3 strings limits you to a background color and then 1 or 2 colors that will to switch in) -Keywords: space (this is something I like, so I used this to find a pattern I will like, it took me a few different keywords before I found the pattern I wanted to start with) This lead my to: #26012 The one thing I might have done differently to have an easier time is pick something where the color does not change on the edge. But either way I had a fun time with this one and it came out really pretty! Hope this helps, and good luck! |

You should try making name bracelets. Kinsey b has a good tutorial on them. (P.S. a name bracelet is an alpha of a name or text)

Thank you for the tips here. I've always been too intimidated by alphas but I might try one or two of the recommended patterns. 😊
