Hello! I have watched Masha’s knots flat Alpha tutorial, and I started making my first alpha. I use the straight edge technique(forwardbackward knots on the edge of the bracelet) and i looked this bracelet, #28603, at the last knot of row 11 and the first knot of row 12. how would you do the forward backward knot on the edge of that row when there are different colors like that. Sorry if that made no sense at all. If anybody could help me it would be much appreciated!❤️

@abby_ruth2 If I were you, I would just do a forward knot and a backward knot. It will still be straight. Let me know if you need more help.

To do the straight edges technique in an alpha you need to make two bf or fb knots each time because you replace two knots! Otherwise you only have half a knot for each row and the rows will most likely curl a bit.

@halokiwi Yup! But what if there are two different colors on the last knot of one row and the first knot of the next row?

The first fb or bf knot is the knot for the first row and the second one is for the second row. So the first one has the colour of row one and the second the colour of row twoYou can imagine it like this: Bf, f,..., f, fb That's the row from left to right Bf, b,..., b, fb That's the row from right to left In my tutorial on straight edges there's a sketch where you can see it better https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/101_the-straight-edges-technique/ (Another question: do you know how to do alphas with more than two colours when you not do the straight edges technique?) |

So basically each row starts and ends with a bf or fb knot. That means you have to do two of the same knots right after each other because after you ended a row with a fb or bf knot you start the next one right away also with a fb or bf knot. The general knotting structure stays the same but all edge knots are switched to fb or bf knots.
