Look at the little bits, that show what strings will be used in the knot, then identify what knot the string come from!Look at #2 (chevron) as an example. For you to do the knot at the very end of the chevron, you need to do the three knots before it! |

when first learning to segment knot, I would highly recommend not doing very complicated patterns. this way, it is much less likely tht you will get confused between all of the sections. after doing some simpler bracelets, you can progress to more complicated, larger ones. I would recommend pretty thin bracelets with diamonds and simpler shapes. these types of patterns help to get a good understanding of the knot structure of normal patterns and what needs to be knotted before what (in terms of segment knotting. hope this helps.

It helps to print the pattern out or to take a screenshot of it and draw your segments onto the pattern. Maybe even write numbers so that you're doing the right order. You can also knot like you'd knot a chevron or candystripe and just do the knots in the pattern instead of the ones you would do in a chevron or candystripe. If you always go in horizontals or v shapes it's harder to get confused. Like others have said before I recommend starting out with simple patterns. Patterns that are based on the chevron or candystripe are good for the beginning. Other good patterns would be arrowheads and patterns where you have diamond shapes. Idk if they have a name. Start with a pattern that isn't super big and doesn't have lots of fb or bf knots. Fb and bf knots make segment knotting harder. |

hey!! I watched Masha Knots's youtube video on segment knotting and was still beyond confused. so I just started trying it on various patterns I was working on and kept messing it all up and really just couldn't figure out what order to make the segments. but then it all magically made sense when I tried it on #25463 ! I took a screenshot of the pattern and circled all of the different segments (mostly the long white lines) and it made it so easy to see what I was supposed to be doing
