@FirePrince try to untie your knots with your fingers a lot of the time when you try to untie a knot with a safety pin it pulls the thread apart

Depending on how tight your knots typically are, you could try using a bobby pin instead of a safety pin. Stretch the sides apart into a "V" and use which ever end is smallest to pick the knot as you would with a safety pin. It can be very helpful for looser knots but if yours are really tight this probably won't work great. Just a thought. Let me know if you need additional help with this! -Meghan_J24

The splitting pretty much always happens with me but I’ve sort of accepted it. If your nails aren’t super short like mine then you could use them instead of a safety pin. Some people use a toothpick, but I’ve never tried that

I personally like to use a stitch unpicker. It’s easy to hold because they have a thicker handle bit, and I find you can slide the pointy end into a knot and wiggle it loose. Sometimes, if I don’t get it in the knot just right, it will start pulling the strands apart, but I just take it back out and try again until it undoes the knot without splitting the strands 🙂
