Hi!I started making bracelets less than a year ago so I know my edges are going to be uneven. But I would like to know if there are any tips and tricks to keeping the tension of the knots even. Thanks! |

I would just try to make your "workspace" clear, and try not to move the bracelet around too much, like tape it down and make sure it doesn't get crooked ? I have the same problem

There is a technique where you add 2 strings to both sides of the bracelet and do forward backward and backward forward knots onto them. There is a tutorial on Masha Knots’ YouTube channel. I also like to do bordered bracelets which is where you have 2 extra strings on the sides of your bracelet and you do a forward backward or backward forward knot on the strings. If you want to see what that looks like, you can type “bordered” in the filter section.

it could be because the string is different brands and different sizes so you might wanna make sure your tying your knots just as tight and just as loose as the others while also trying not to mix brands al lot

Be really aware of and focused on the tension while you’re knotting. If you do a knot and it seems different from the others, don’t hesitate to untie it and do it again. Of course, do this within reason, because obviously the knots won’t all be EXACTLY the same. Basically just pay attention and try to have patience

Sometimes it helps to use a safety pin so your bracelet has some room to move

Make sure you use string that is the same thickness and keep your bracelet taped down super well!! Something that helped me get my knots more consistent is making sure that I’m not trying to tie them too tight! Make sure the first half of your knot is fairly snug and the second half can be a bit looser, just enough to make a nice and full knot! Once you start making them all like that they will definitely become consistent!

knot sizes in my experience really are the result in of how concentrated you are on your knotting pressure. Try to keep yourself going on one sitting to continue your knitting streak and prefect your preferred tightness/ loseness.

I personally prefer to make my knots tight because when I make them loose there are usually holes between the knots or between the rows. I think it's basically experience to learn how to make your knots at the same size 😉
