Alpha trouble - switching/adding colors

So I attempted to make an alpha a few days ago (it was my first alpha) and when I went to change colors I noticed a part of it wasn't connected. Does anyone know what I did wrong or what happened?

What do you mean by not connected? Is it possible you missed a base string?

masha knots has a “flat alpha” tutorial where you add the base string inside your knot and that helps a lot with this!
