If your not switching on the last base string, lift the leading string you are working with up. Bring in the string you want to switch to under the bracelet and make the first half of a forward or a backward knot. Then bring the string you made the first half of the knot with up. After, bring the string you brought up down and around so that when you make the second half of the knot with the other string, you’re knotting on the old leading string and on the base string you made the first half of the knot on. Then bring the old leading string under the bracelet. Tip: while you are making the second half of the knot, it helps to pull of the old leading string a bit in my opinion. Hope this helps!! If you go to Racoon here on bracelet book( if you can’t find her she is a moderator so you can just post moderator on, then you will be able to find her) then go to her videos she has a really descriptive video on alphas and color switches, hope this helps (and to find her you need to go to users, put moderator in and she’s the Racoon)

I don’t really make alphas that much, I kind of prefer normal patterns so idk. I hope to get back into alphas soon!

I will try to explain again, but @alphabird did a wonderful job so I’m probably going to be just repeating what they said. Anyway.. First you put the previous leading string up and out of the way. Next, bring in your new leading string from underneath the bracelet. With the new string, make half of the forward or backward knot (depending on which direction you are knotting). Now put that string up and out of the way as well. Take the old leading string and lay it across the half knot. Take your new leading string and do the 2nd half of the knot. Then gently tug on the old leading string to prevent colors from popping through your knot. Then put the old leading string behind the bracelet and all the base strings. Now continue knotting from there. Hopefully this is helpful and maybe between all of us here you can figure it out! Good luck!

@giraffe34 I know you were asking someone else how long it took for their alphas to get good, but I figured I’d answer. For me, it was about halfway through my very first alpha that it started to look decent. Sorry if you didn’t want an answer haha. Also, would you be able to go on YouTube using your browser? You don’t need the app or an account for that
