why do the alphas knots go sideways and not diagnal? do i knot it differently? any tips on alphas?

They go sideways because you’re knotting in rows of equal knots, if that makes sense. Whereas a normal pattern, that was 8 strings for example, has 4 knots, then 3 knots, etc. also, there’s base strings and leading strings, where on normal patterns all strings do knots. 😊

Definitely if you are beginning you should start off without the flat alpha technique, and after you do 3 or 4 alphas that you like, you should try out the flat alpha technique. because I think that the flat alpha technique would be more hard to learn at first, and knowing how to make alphas the 'normal' way will help you understand that technique. Masha Knots on yt actually has a video on both techniques, so you can watch both.Tip: If you want the edges of your alpha to be straight then you can use the straight edges technique which means whenever you start or finish a row, on the left side do backward forward knots and on the right side do forward backward knots. Remember to do this only at the edges when you START or FINISH a row. (If you look at my photos you can see that I used the straight edges technique on my alphas ) Extra tip for the site: You can tag people to make them see that you were talking to them. Just put an at sign in front of their username. For example if I wanted to tag myself I would do @AwesomeGrl (If you're wondering why you're seeing this if I did not tag you it's because you made the forum post) Hope all this info helps you!!😊 |
