How do I start a keychain so all the strings are straight and flat? I know how to do a normal loop to start it but it makes the first row look bad and hard to straighten.

If you go to Masha Knots’ YouTube channel, she has a video oh how to start an alpha keychain. If the pattern has an even number of base strings, you can slip knot them onto a carabiner or safety pin.

What I try to do is level it out first with a solid background color, and once it is in a line, then continue to your pattern. I highly suggest getting "D" rings as one side is flat! 😊

There are different ways you could startIf you do a loop and afterwards a shaped start and put the loop on the keyring your rows should be straight. If you want to do a double sided keychain you first do one half upside down. Then you insert the keyring and do the second half. MashaKnots has a video on it https://youtu.be/KciljDh-1Ko Double sided keychains work well with patterns where you have the front and the back of something |
