Ok. So I'm a bit of a noob (I'm a newbie++) when it comes to alpha patterns. So bear with me... Ok so.I want to make an alpha pattern. I already chose what pattern I want to do. But I don't know how long my strings are supposed to be. And I don't know how to tie alpha patterns (making the knots). I want to do it! But I'm afraid I'll mess up! I hope you get what I'm saying! Please help! I want to make one for my BFF that lives in another province! |

Hey 🙂 don't panic okay 🙂 I'm working on my first alpha too, and it's not bad once you figure it out. What kind of beginning are u using? A loop or a braid?

@AnimeGirl I wanna try to make a loop beginning... But which one is easier? A loop or a braid?

Loops will hold up better. Really use the tutorial section of the site. There's tutorials on how to make the starting loop, how to tie alphas, and how to change out knotter strings for multi-colored alphas. I didn't know how to do alphas when I first started using this site. But the tutorials really helped! Also, check out BeyondBracelets on youtube. Her channel is full of awesome video tutorials.

@catminion a braid is easy, but SBilbrey is right when she says the loop holds up better. If you are doing a loop, make the strings six or seven times as long as the pattern. With a braid make it around 3 or 4 times long. 🙂
