I'm not exactly a newbie, but I was wondering if I can use yarn for an alpha. I believe the yarn is meant for crochet. It is way thicker than normal embroidery floss. I thought it would be fine but I tested it and the knots were really big. Will my bracelet end up too long and not be able to fit my wrist?

I use yarn! For alphas you should try 4 or 8 ply yarn. I use yarn in both normal and alpha and it really depends on what type of yarn. I use 8 ply which is a tiny bit thicker then embroidery floss. If you use 4 ply it’s more thinner. Your bracelet won’t be to long and it will end up on your wrist (depends on the pattern)

i’ve never used yarn in any type of bracelet, but for an alpha i would probably stick to the thinner threads, like embroidery floss or craft cord, so the pattern could look more uniform. hope that helps!

Also yarn is commonly used for knitting since crochet has its on type of thread

Also @elephants1 how can I tell if my yarn is 8 ply? It doesn't seem to say on the paper thing. 🙁 Sorry if this is a dumb question 😄

@Fluffball hmm that’s a little weird it happens to me to! maybe try another brand that tells you the ply size if you want thinner yarn try 4 ply but if you want something a bit thicker but not to thicc try 8ply. Also where are you buying it because sometimes the store has it in sections

@elephants1 I bought this particular yarn at Walmart. Unfortunately where I live there is no local craft store like Michael's or anything like that, so I buy my thread at Walmart and Amazon.
