I’m an awful at alphas.😂 whenever i make one with 3 or more colors the design not the background gets puffy and some of the knots are not visible where the design meets the background. idk how to fix this when i finish using a color i cross the nexts needed color over the previous colored string, alphas also when i take that new string i need i take it under the base strings then over the previous color and i then start tying the knots. I’m not sure if that explanation helps but i do t know what i’m doing😂😂also this only happens when i have 3 or more colors it’s fine with two colors though.

If it's puffy it would be good to use the flat alpha technique. The reason the alphas get puffy is because you are doing a lot of color switches at the back, and the strings just pile up behind each other. So yeah, I recommend trying out the flat alpha technique, it really helps

@rkade thanks! 😊, i’m aware of the tutorial masha knots has, i though it was to keep the edges from being bumpy is there a different method or does that one help?

There's two different methods that she talks about. I think you're mixing it up with the straight edges method she talks about. The flat alpha technique is a technique that allows you to do the color switches differently. I highly recommend trying out both methods they work great.Hope I helped!! |

The flat alpha technique like everyone is saying is good, but also make sure the strings you are using are all the same size/brand. The knots can look weird if some strings are really thick while the others are very thin.

i strongly recommend monitoring your tension on the loose strings in the back. if you have a color that you use on the left side, then not in the middle, and then again on the right ( like a background color ) if you pull it too tight across the back when you use it again it will bunch up all of the knots in between! so make sure to keep your unused leading strings loose enough in the back. to fix ones that are already bunches up you can cut the loose strings in the back and it will usually make them less puffy !
