Hi all, How do you calculate a string length for a bracelet? For example, how much string should I cut if I want to do a loop for #36054 with triangle ends and ties at the bottom? Thank you! |

I would use a wingspan length for each string (which is then folded to half that length) and a bit extra for the colour that you want the loop to be. It is actually better to have too short of strings than too long of strings, as you can always tie in more thread!

I use about 2 meters of string and fold them in half to make a loop. If I'm not going to make a loop then I cut about a meter of string. I'd rather have to much string because adding in string is annoying, and you can use you scraps for alphas or other types of bracelets.

@alphabird No problem! I’d definitely recommend MashaKnots’ videos for any other advice, her videos are very helpful! Thanks for mentioning my pattern btw, I’d love to see a photo of the result 😁

For most strings, i would do 5-5 1/2 feet, then add 10 inches to cover the ties and triangle ends. For the loop string, i add an extra 20-30 cm, since loop often take up more string than you think.
